Donna M. Messick

Donna Messick, age 64, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, surrounded by the comfort of her family. Donna was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Stanley & Patricia Wyszynski on April 3, 1960. Her formative years were spent at St Peters Catholic School & then William Penn High School where she graduated class of 1978. She participated in many clubs & formed strong friendships during that time which lasted a lifetime. Donna was always a hard worker and dedicated herself to her employer, Little World Nursery School, in New Castle for 20+ years. That time was spent caring & nurturing children from infants to school age. She made her mark and touched several generations that remember her to this day. She was also a proud “cook” for them during that time providing homemade food for snack/lunches until she couldn’t any longer & had to retire early. Donna loved her family, immediate & extended, like nothing else. She was the go-to and rock for us all. She enjoyed spending time with them whether it be hosting & entertaining parties, camping, going to the beach, eating crabs and riding on the Harley with her husband. She also loved gardening; her flower bed drew attention from passersby who would comment of its beauty. In her later years they moved into a community where she made many new close friends that cared for each other If anything, she loved hard and went above and beyond for anyone that needed a hand in any aspect. She sacrificed so much for so many without skipping a beat. Donna is survived by her loving & devoted husband of 42 years, Rodney; children, Shannon McCray (Armstrong), and Brett Messick (wife, Kara); grandchildren: Jordyn, Leah, Thomas, Brett, Savanah, Nikkia & Kala; sisters, Nancy Martin (Jim) and Mary Hainsworth (John); brothers: Charles, Terry & Will Wyszynski; and many aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded In death by her son, Rodney Messick Jr. A viewing will be held Monday, July 8, 2024, from 10:30 AM- 12 Noon at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a celebration of Donna’s life at 12 Noon.
