Elisa S. Arcieri

On Saturday, August 24th, 2024, the world lost one of its fiercest fighters, Elisa S. Arcieri. With unwavering strength and a spirit that could light up the darkest days, Elisa faced her 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer head-on. She passed away peacefully wrapped in the warmth and love of her entire family. Elisa was born in the vibrant heart of Barranquilla, Colombia, on June 18, 1946, a date that will always be etched in the memories of those who loved her. Born to Ana Paulina and Pedro. She was the second youngest of five wonderful children—Anita, Lila, Tony, and Alfredo. Her childhood was filled with beauty and laughter, where every moment was celebrated. Through her siblings, she was introduced to her soulmate, Osvaldo Arcieri, whose presence would forever enrich her story. Osvaldo and Elisa eventually married and welcomed three beautiful children, Janice (Dave), Elisa (Jimmy) and Osvaldo (Kate). Given their entire family was back in Barranquilla, they decided to build a strong community of chosen family in Delaware. With her strong Catholic faith and belief in finding joy and fun in every moment, she set the foundation in which she lovingly nurtured and raised her children. Her beloved nephew, David (Holly), was among those who held a special place in her heart. Her home was always open, reflecting her generous spirit. Elisa took care of everyone around her, making sure no one was ever in need and that everyone was constantly fed. Cooking was her love language, and her kitchen was the heart of countless gatherings, filled with laughter, love, dancing, and the aroma of arroz con pollo. She was also an avid traveler with her husband, creating many memories that they cherished together. In the last few years, she found joy and amazing competition in her Mahjong group, where her quick wit and sharp mind shone brightly. Elisa was known as Mamita “Mita” to her treasured grandchildren (and many, many others)—Devon (Ankit), Peyton (Zach), Jimmy, Joey, David LEE, & Dominic. Her love only deepened with the arrival of her two precious great-grandchildren, Mason and Palomi, who brought even more light into her life. Elisa was always there for her loved ones, offering endless support and loyalty. Her presence brought so much comfort and strength to everyone around her. She leaves behind a remarkable family legacy, having cultivated strong bonds among her children and grandchildren, fostering a sense of unity that will be cherished for generations to come. Elisa is preceded in death by her husband, Osvaldo, as well as her sister, Anita, and her brother, Alfredo. She never went anywhere without Osvaldo by her side. They had a love that transcends all barriers. We can only imagine the gorgeous reunion they must be experiencing together now in Heaven, their souls intertwined once more living in eternal bliss. Te quiero mucho mucho, Mita. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 10 to 11:30 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 82 Possum Park Road in Newark, where a Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington.
