John Edward Boghosian

John Edward Boghosian, age 77, was born on July 21, 1933 in Oklahoma City, OK, son of George K. Boghosian, Sr. and Arousiag Keshian. He graduated from Central High School, Oklahoma City, OK in 1951 and the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK, June 1955 with a BS in Physics. John had an extensive career beginning with Nortonics Div. Northrop Corp., Hawthorne, CA, working with space electronics and continuing until his retirement at Raven, INC, Falls Church, VA. His extensive engineering background in optical UV, visual electron-ics and laser systems were sought-after in the industry. He provided engineering support to Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) program management and engineering groups for decoy flares used to thwart Infrared Missile Seekers, i.e., Singer/Stinger-RMP. His father, George, left Turkey at the age of 14 during the Armenian War as sole survivor. Eventually, he started his own business, selling oriental rugs and paintings in Oklahoma City. John worked the store during his youth learning about the paintings and became an avid support of the arts throughout his life as donor and collector. His mother, Arousiag, met his father on one of his buying trips in Cairo. Her desire for education and reading was his influence to attend the university. John retired in 1995 and resided in Arlington, VA, until May 2008 when he moved in with his brother, George, in Bear, DE. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul. Survivors include his brother, George & wife Karen; extended family, Iris and Bob Kane (MN); Michael Kambestad, Sr. (WY) and children, Amber, Christina and Michael, Jr.; Debra Garbutt (Las Vegas) and children, Chauncy, Shanelle and Tiffanne; and family friends Richard Pettigrew, Gordon and Debbie Kyle and children, Becca, Josh and Hannah Kyle; and Nat and Pearl Smith. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 in Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 at 3pm where friends may call one hour prior.
