Kathleen (Kathy) Marie Scott, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 27, 2024. She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Gerard H. Olszewski, and her three children: Stephanie (Bob) Weir, Elizabeth Scott, and Erica Scott. She also leaves behind three stepchildren: Lida (Mark) Parag, Jacob Olszewski, and Joshua (Nicole) Olszewski, as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a wide circle of dear friends who cherished her deeply. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who loved her. Kathleen was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and began her educational journey at St. Paul’s Parochial school, followed by Wilmington High School. She furthered her education at Goldey Beacom College. In her formative years, Kathy made a lasting impact as a camp counselor for the Girls Club, where she shared her passion for swimming by teaching the next generation. Kathleen devoted a significant portion of her professional life to the legal sector, serving as a paralegal at esteemed firms such as Richards, Layton & Finger, Bronstein, and Alsco, as well as undertaking various temporary roles. She later transitioned to Budget Programming and Almo Kitchens, and lent her expertise to prominent financial institutions, including The Bank of New York and JP Morgan Chase. Her exceptional skills and dedication earned her numerous recognitions and accolades throughout her career. Kathleen’s extraordinary generosity and compassion inspired countless individuals. She selflessly dedicated her time, resources, and energy to supporting and volunteering for numerous charitable organizations, including The Children’s Fund, Native American Reservation, and MS Society, among others. As an active member of two senior centers, she shared her creative talents in crafts and tarot card reading, bringing joy to those around her. Throughout her life, Kathleen’s unwavering kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impact. In a final act of selflessness, she chose to donate her organs, giving the gift of life to others. Kathleen’s diverse passions and interests added depth and richness to her life. She had a flair for vibrant colors, particularly pink and mint green, which reflected her playful personality. Her culinary delights included savoring pizza and watermelon, as well as starting each day with a warm bowl of maple brown sugar oatmeal. Kathleen’s enthusiastically participate in Renaissance fairs and medieval reenactments as a dedicated member of the Anachronism group. Additionally, her fascination with the unknown fueled her adventures as a ghost hunter with Paranormal Investigative Services, further showcasing her eclectic and adventurous spirit. Kathleen held a special place in her heart for the beach and boardwalk, where she created countless cherished memories. Her favorite destinations included the charming towns of Delaware City, Chesapeake City, Cape May, and Ocean City, each holding a unique spot in her memory. Additionally, Lancaster, PA, was another location that brought her joy, its rustic charm and beauty leaving a lasting impression. These places were more than just destinations – they were the backdrop for moments that brought her happiness and serenity. The loss of Kathleen has left an unfillable void in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Her selfless nature and remarkable spirit made a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Though her time with us was tragically cut short, her legacy of unwavering compassion, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire and uplift others. May she be welcomed into God’s eternal peace, holding a place of honor surrounded by love and joy, and may her memory be a blessing to all who mourn her passing. A visitation for Kathleen will take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, located at 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702.
