Patricia Ann Adamek

Patricia Ann Adamek, age 72, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 1, 2022. Patricia met her high school sweetheart, George C. Adamek, at a baseball game in 1966 and the two became inseparable. Patricia was a graduate of Interboro High School, class of 1969. On August 2nd, 1969 Patricia married her high school sweetheart and the special bond she shared with her husband helped create their loving and close-knit family. Shortly after graduation, she worked as a hairdresser where she loved to style her friend’s and family’s hair. Patricia was the ultimate homemaker and became the Matriarch of her family. In her younger years Patricia could be found camping with her husband, kids, and special cousin, Jennifer. They enjoyed many of the campground activities with one another. They enjoyed camping as a family so much that they had a summer campsite in Indian Acres, where her son, George, was a lifeguard during the summers. She loved decorating her home and her beach house in Rehoboth, where the family created many years of special memories from vacation trips to holidays spent down the beach. She possessed special gifts for cleaning and decorating and passed these skills on to her daughter and granddaughters. Her house was known to be a safe-haven and oasis for all who entered. Everything in her home had a place and Patricia took pride in sharing her home with others. Patricia was an excellent cook who enjoyed baking and preparing delicious meals for family and friends. She was sure to share all her special family recipes with her daughter and granddaughters, who carry on all the delicious foods and baked goods. In her own words, Patricia said, “I passed on the torch!” In addition, Patricia was a great party and event planner. She was known to throw some of the best birthdays and parties with her knack for entertainment and her gift for being a generous host. Most recently this could be seen while assisting and helping with decision-making for her granddaughter’s weddings and baby showers, and grandson’s high school graduation party. Patricia always prayed for her family, especially for her son George as he has battled COVID for the past 15 months. When talking about her son, she always said that he would one day be a walking miracle and that his testimony would lead others to the Lord. She cherished her family and loved having them over throughout the year. The holidays were extra special, honoring past traditions and ushering in new ones. Many memories were also made on vacation cruises. Her favorite destination was the Bahamas and her family nicknamed her “Bahama Mama.” Patricia was known for wearing her special cruise hat, and hitting the pool in Margaritaville in Grand Turk, and all the shops in Free Port. She also enjoyed resting her toes in the sand in Nassau. She looked forward to shopping til she dropped and eating out with her family. She never missed her soap opera- All My Children- and in recent years shared a love for Netflix and Lifetime Movie Network. Patricia loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and never hesitated to share His love with others. She even hosted “parking lot prayer services” at her grandchildren’s school. She also volunteered her time by helping run the bake table at the yearly Country Christmas. She had a unique, sassy personality and everyone who met her loved her and considered her their “Mom-mom.” She had such a huge heart that she would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Patricia loved fiercely with her whole heart and her legacy of love will be passed on through her family and for future generations to come. Patricia is survived by her children, George C. Adamek, Jr. (loving wife, Redonia) and Melissa Adamek-Dean (loving son-in-law, John); former daughter-in-law, Kristin Adamek; grandchildren: Sarah Jimenez (Eddie), Lauren Schane (Rob), Christian Adamek-Dean (Angelina), Joshua Adamek, Jacob Adamek, and Wesley Adamek; great-grandchildren, Edward and Liam; siblings, Paul Rowe (Eileen) and Lisa Matsinger; and special cousin, Jennifer Masci (Mark). She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband and soulmate of 49 years, George C. Adamek, Sr.; father, James Matsinger; mother, Marion Rowe (loving step-father, Marlin); and brother, Marlin Rowe. A special note would like to be made honoring Patricia’s loving and devoted daughter, Melissa, as she was Patricia’s caretaker and healthcare advocate.
