Victor Andres Santiago

Victor Andres Santiago, age 77, of New Castle, Delaware, went home to the Lord on April 20, 2024. He was born in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico to the late Carmen Rosa Blanco and Victor Andres Santiago Fernandez. He grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, and later moved to Baltimore City, where he worked as a police officer for 22 years. Victor proudly served in the U.S. Army. Upon his return to Delaware, Victor had a career in auto sales until retiring. Victor was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and his family was always his first priority. He was also very attached to his little pug dogs, Jessie and Nala. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Victor especially enjoyed their Wednesday night family dinners when his children and grandchildren gathered to eat and be together. Victor was a devout Catholic and attended church weekly at St. John the Beloved and St. Paul’s. He enjoyed listening to Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash songs, and loved Elvis movies and going to see action-adventure films at the theater. Victor was an avid sports fan and followed the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles and the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Victor loved cooking his favorite Puerto Rican dishes. In recent years, he took up guitar playing. He and his wife lived in Puerto Rico for 18 months after his retirement. Victor is survived by his wife, Lydia Santiago; his children: Kristy Santiago (Greg), Victor Andrew Santiago, Denise Beltran (Jorge), Enid Bosquez (Harry), and Exavier Santiago (Krystal); his siblings: Edna Santiago (Francisco), Iris Burgos, Emilio Burgos (Bruni) and Wanda Burgos (Michael); his five grandchildren: Emmanuel, Manuel, Isabella, Julian, and Jayden; and a host of extended family and friends. Victor was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Carmen Rosa and Yolando Burgos; his father, Victor Andres Santiago Fernandez; and his brothers: Orlando and Roberto Burgos. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, April 29 from 10-11 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1010 W. 4th St., Wilmington, DE 19805.
