Andrea Lynn Duzan "Andy"

Andrea Lynn Duzan, “Andy”, age 73, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, August 12, 2018. Andy was a loving woman devoted to serving God and her family. At Abilene Christian College she met and married the love of her life, Richard. After their marriage in 1967, they moved to Newark, DE, as missionaries to help strengthen the congregation at Newark Church of Christ. Andy opened her heart and home to those in need, and many found hope and love there - including the foster children that they sponsored and the students from the English Language Institute at the University of DE. Andy also served the community and touched many lives through Newark Church of Christ, where she served as an elder’s wife, and Aletheia Christian School, where she taught Bible and Social Studies for 23 years. Some of her happiest moments were spent studying and teaching the Word of God. Andy was involved as a hospital volunteer at the People’s House – a church organization that provides food and lodging to those out of the area folks that have loved ones at Christiana Hospital. Her gift of hospitality was further displayed in the cooking and interaction she had with the students at the Campus House at the University of Delaware. She loved music (Handel’s Messiah was a particular favorite) and was a member of the church worship team and Blue Rock Chorus, which conducted free concerts at area senior centers. Andy enjoyed time with her Water Babies in the aquasize classes at the Newark Senior Center Pool. Her godly life and serving spirit will be deeply missed. Andy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Richard Duzan; sons: Gary (Anne), Tom (Tammy), Bryan (Renée), Alex (Heather), and Keith (Tiffany); sister, Melanie Konersman; 17 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A visitation will be held Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 9:30-11 AM at Newark Church of Christ, 91 Salem Church Rd., Newark, DE 19713 followed by a service in celebration of Andy’s life at 11 AM.
