Angelina Oratorio

Angelina Oratorio, age 87, of Wilmington, DE went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family on October 25, 2019. Angelina was born to the late Rose (Pino) and Arthur Oratorio, Sr. on August 2, 1932, in South Philadelphia, PA and moved to Delaware at the age of 12. Angelina was Valedictorian of her high school class and received a full scholarship to the University of Delaware in 1950 where she earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education. Later in life, Angelina worked on a master’s degree in English at the University and taught freshman creative writing classes; she also traveled to Italy and spent time in England studying the great works of Shakespeare. Angelina enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, knitting, going to the theater, listening to popular and classical music and watching classic movies. She was an avid reader, and particularly enjoyed the works of Mark Twain and William Faulkner. Her favorite artist was Mary Cassatt. Angelina’s first priority was her family. She is survived by her loving children: Remo Mazzetti, Jr. who lovingly cared for her for over 10 years as her health declined - providing constant care, Mark Mazzetti, Bart Mazzetti, Regina Mazzetti and children, Julia and Nicholas, Gregg Mazzetti and children, Bernadette, Julian and Amelia, Alan Mazzetti and daughter Alyson, and Eric Eden (Hope) and children Clark, Emily, and Willow; her sister Rita Harvey (Carl); sisters-in-law, Joyce, Marianne and Mary Oratorio; former husband, Remo Mazzetti, Sr., who continued to provide love and support until her final day on Earth; and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Anthony, Arthur, Robert, Richard and Anna Oratorio. Angelina was considered by those around her as a progressive, an intellectual and a teacher. She was patient and kind and was adored by her grandchildren who benefitted from her exceptional gift of being able to lovingly connect and teach them in developmentally relevant ways. Angelina was a devoted member of the Catholic faith and a compassionate person who believed in fairness, equality and justice for all humans. Angelina lived her faith in humility and kindness and was guided by one of her favorite passages in the Bible: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus”. (Philippians 4:6-7) The family requests donations in Angelina’s memory be made to Seasons Hospice who lovingly cared for her during her final days.
