Betty "Betsy" Anne Kalinowski

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty “Betsy” Anne Kalinowski, age 79, previously of Wilmington, DE, who left us peacefully on December 28, 2024. Born on March 4, 1945, to the late George Wilson and Florence (McCracken) Wilson, Betsy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Betsy married her late husband, Joseph Kalinowski, on July 27, 1963. In her earlier years, Betsy began her career in bookkeeping at Artcraft Electric. Between bookkeeping positions, Betsy enjoyed driving a school bus for special needs students in New Castle County. Over the years, she held several bookkeeping roles, including at Brandywine Convalescent Home and Maternal Fetal Medicine, where she ultimately retired. In 1964, 1967, and 1970, Betsy welcomed her three children, John, Michael, and Kimberly, who were the most important part of her life. Betsy found joy in boating, spending summers at the beach, and taking long weekend trips with her sisters, Sandy and Nancy, daughter, Kim, and two nieces, Sandi Reed and Vicki Gallagher. She enjoyed coin collecting and had a keen interest in collecting Beanie Babies. In recent years, she cherished car rides and frequent visits from her family. Betsy is survived by her three children, John and Tina Kalinowski of Acworth, GA, Michael Kalinowski of Elsmere, DE, and Kimberly M. Kuhn of Newark, DE; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Jeff Flanagan of Wilmington, DE; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanne and John Jeziorkowski of Selden, NY; her grandchildren: Matthew Arrowood, John Kalinowski Jr., Rennee Plonski, Daniel Kuhn, Dannielle Ortiz, Brittany Blevins, and Ashley Lingafelt; her great-grandchildren: Ryleigh Baldwin, Annalynne Ortiz, Nathan Ortiz, William Lingafelt, Joey Lingafelt, Steven Lingafelt, Abilene Lingafelt and Robbie Lingafelt. Betsy is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her sister, Sandra Nolker, her brother, Robert Wilson, her niece, Sandi Flanagan, and nephew, Ed Gallagher. Betsy will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her loved ones will always be remembered. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 from 2 PM to 3 PM. A celebration of Betsy’s life will follow at 3 PM. The family encourages people to attend to share their memories of this remarkable woman.
