Beverly Patricia Jones-Levins

Beverly Patricia Jones Levins was born on June 4, 1956, in Philadelphia PA. to Nathaniel W. Jones II and Clara V. Jones. Beverly received her education in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Dobbins Vocational Technical High School in 1974, and attended Temple University, where she studied accounting. She also had a background in theater and the performing arts. In 1988 Beverly moved her family to Delaware, finally settling in New Castle. She and her beloved husband, David Levins Jr. had a 47-year union. Beverly worked much of her adult life in customer service working at Prudential, CIGNA and Bank of America. Later she drove a school bus for the Colonial School District. Raised by her loving parents as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Beverly had fond memories of participating in door-to-door field service at a young age. She was baptized by water in July of 1973. Years later, she continued lovingly proclaiming the Kingdom Message as a member of the North New Castle Congregation. She cherished her bible studies with friends and family. Even when health and external factors (including the Covid-19 Pandemic) posed challenges she preached by letter and phone aided by fellow Witnesses. She had a passion for cooking and baking, often preparing meals for gatherings, including Kingdom Hall functions. Many knew Beverly for her culinary skills, which brought family and friends together. It was often during these times that treasured memories were created. She also enjoyed making gift baskets for special occasions. On May 11, 2025, Beverly passed away at the age of 68. Beverly was preceded in death by her loving parents, Nathaniel W. and Clara V. Jones; Siblings - Ronald, Paula, Cheryl, Catherine, Kevin and Daniel Jones; and her best friend, Adelaide Johnson, whom she considered a sister. Beverly is survived by her beloved husband, David Levins Jr.; her five children: Andre Jones, Sandra Benitez (husband, Edgar), David Levins III, Daniel (wife, Tina) and Michael Levins; four grandchildren (to whom she was affectionately known as “Mookie”): Laniyah, Lanir and Danica Levins and Layla Benitez; six siblings: Cynthia, Nathan, Jeffrey (wife Kathy), Bonnie and Bryan Jones, and Valerie Kent (husband, Pete); as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews and cousins. A visitation will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 8:30-10 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Beverly’s life at 10 AM.
