Blancheta Reece

Blancheta Reece, age 85, of Bear, Delaware, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. Blancheta was a God-fearing woman whose life was rooted in faith, love, and service. She found deep joy in reading her Bible, listening to gospel music, and watching tennis or football. She also loved dancing and cherished watching her husband play cricket and soccer, moments that brought her great happiness. While living in Jamaica, she was a devoted member of the Church of God of Prophecy. After God, her greatest love was her family. A true Jamaican matriarch, Blancheta was an exceptional cook who believed no one should ever leave her home hungry. She took great pride in caring for her family, always ensuring everyone was fed, welcomed, and well cared for. Her door and her heart were always open. She had a special love for children and found joy in caring for them and teaching them with patience, warmth, and gentle wisdom. Blancheta’s life was one of service and devotion. She was first a housewife and later worked as a cook at Sam Sharp Teaching School. After immigrating to the United States, she worked in various fields, including a clothing factory in North Carolina, as a babysitter, and later as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Veterans Administration, where she compassionately served those who had served others. At her church, Blancheta faithfully taught Bible classes, a role that reflected her deep love for God’s Word. Many fond memories were created during the years she taught Bible lessons at home, where faith, discipline, and love shaped daily life. Blancheta is survived by her children: Owen Williams, Evadney Williams, Neville Williams, Dawn Opiyo (Thomas), Sandra Williams, John Williams (Lisa), Aletha Williams, and Grace Ann McCutcheon (Brian); her sister, Gloria Stewart; her brothers, Leon Buchanan and Norman Buchanan; her sister-in-law, Faydeen Buchanan; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Williams; her parents, Ezekiel and Iris Walker; her brother, Gosset Buchanan; and her grandson, Neville Williams. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025, with a public viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Hope Community, 1390 Red Lion Road, Bear, Delaware 19701, followed by a service celebrating Blancheta’s life from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
