Brian was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness touched all who knew him. His unexpected departure leaves a profound void in the lives of his family and friends, and his memory will remain a guiding light for those who loved him. A Life Filled with Love and Music Brian grew up in a loving and supportive family environment, where he forged deep connections that would last throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1988, making lifelong friendships and embarking on the journey that would shape his character and future. Eager to broaden his horizons, Brian continued his education at Harford Community College, embracing new experiences and passions with enthusiasm. During his college years, Brian was a proud member of the drum corps and performed as a Crossman. Music was a central part of his life, and his dedication to the drum corps community showcased his talent, teamwork, and spirit. His performances brought joy to many and reflected the exuberance with which he lived each day. Brian was also an avid tennis player, often sharing the court with one of his best friends, Jimmy Russell. Dedication and Versatility Brian was truly a jack of all trades when it came to employment. His adaptability and willingness to learn allowed him to excel in many different roles throughout his life. No matter the task, Brian approached his work with diligence and a positive attitude, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. A Passionate Tar Heel Fan Brian’s enthusiasm for life extended to his love of sports, especially as the number one fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels. His spirited cheer—“it’s a great day to be a Tar Heel TARRRR!!!!”—will be fondly remembered and echoed by those who shared his passion. Family and Loved Ones Brian was preceded in death by his father, Richard H. Purdie; his nephew, Shawn P. Shannon II; grandmother, Jeanette Shockley; grandfather, Charles Shockley; uncles, James Shockley and Uncle Walter Shockley; and his aunt, Denise Porter. Brian is survived by his loving mother, Adele Purdie; brother, Shawn Shannon (Dawn); Aunts: Grace Wilson (Earl), Vanessa Lemme’, Darlene Wilson (John), and Uncle, Charles Shockley (Phyllis). The love of his life, Delmar Price, was his constant companion and greatest joy. Brian’s extended family includes: Great Uncle Bernard Purdie; Great Aunts: Patricia Weathers (Paul) and Thelma Washington; nieces, Arika Shannon, Mariah Leggett (Robb), and nephew, Noah Shannon. He was also cherished by his great nephews Jovani Dougherty, Samuel Leggett, Zayn Hamilton, and great nieces Mckayla Leggett, Eliana Leggett, Aubree Shannon, Zoe Hamilton, and Zhavia Hamilton. Brian leaves behind a host of cousins and relatives, including the LaRue, Owens, and Purdie families, all of whom will miss him dearly. Celebrating Brian’s Legacy Brian’s warmth, kindness, and generous spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a source of strength and joy for his family, friends, and community. As we remember Brian, let us honor his legacy by cherishing the memories we shared and continuing to spread the love and positivity he exemplified throughout his life. Rest in peace, Brian. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
