Carl Martin Parrish II “C”, age 35, of New Castle, DE, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025. Carl was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. He was kind, generous, funny, caring, and truly had a heart of pure gold. If he cared about you, there was absolutely no questioning it. He believed in “It’s not what you say, it’s what you do”, so he always showed up for the people he loved. Carl was fiercely loyal. He expected nothing but loyalty in return, but if you were, you would have gained an incredible friend for life. He would selfishly say, “I love to do things for people because it makes me feel good.” He would literally take the shirt off his back if he saw someone less fortunate than him in need. He could be seen helping the elderly, or a solo mom with kids carry their groceries to the car. Carl was a proud family man. Carl loved kids, probably because he was a big kid at heart. He never missed an opportunity to throw around the ball with his nephews and even play baby dolls with his nieces. He was the kind of Dad that would let you paint his nails bright pink because it made his girls happy. He never let a day go by without reminding his loved ones that he had their back and loved them “right, wrong or indifferent.” His love and loyalty knew no conditions, and his presence brought light and laughter to every room he entered. He always kept a $5 bill in his glove box because he loved to “support the kid’s hustle” when he saw them in the neighborhood selling bottled water or lemonade. If you asked him what he thought it took to have a successful marriage he would, without hesitation, tell you it’s simple, Mama’s always right! Carl is survived by his wife, Holly Sostre-Parrish; his 4 beautiful daughters: Kaeleigh Inez (Bradley), Cadence Marie, Rose Marie and Diva Grace “Squeeze”; his parents, Carl M. Parrish (Karen) and Monica A. Hamill (Albert); father-in-law, Nelson Sostre; mother-in-law, Susan Sierra; sisters, Rachael and Taylor; brothers, Damien, Wesley, and Joshua; sisters-in-law, Jamie Lane and Ciara Sostre; and brother-in-law, Marcos Sostre. He is also survived by his dear friends Margie, and son James; childhood friends, Justin Gramt and Bobby Thomas; his paternal aunts, Jo-Anne McDonald (James) and Carol Holladay (John); maternal aunts, Jacqueline Raymond (Charles) and Lorraine Woodward; maternal uncle, Joe Hamill; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Catherine (Kay) Banks Parrish; his aunt, Sandi Dobsch; maternal grandmother, Francis T. Hamill; aunts, Donna Hamill and Terri Hicks (Glynn) ; uncle, Joseph Hamill; brothers-in-law, Nelson Sostre and Blake Harmon; niece, Gia’Bella Matos; nephew, Junior (Spiderman) Harmon; and maternal cousins, Tom Hicks and Paul Woodward II.
