Charles “Chuck” Alexander Jones Sr. June 7, 1954 - February 11, 2025 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a good man. Chuck unexpectedly left us on February 11, 2025, at the age of seventy. He was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, and friend. Chuck was born in Wilmington, DE on June 7, 1954, to Donald Lee Jones Sr. and Sarah Ann (Fayson) Jones. He grew up in the Dunleith neighborhood of New Castle, DE. He graduated from De La Warr High School in 1972, where he excelled in wrestling. He later attended the University of Delaware to study Psychology. It was during this time that Chuck became a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Chuck was truly a jack-of-all-trades. Over the years, he worked as a pipefitter, New Castle County police officer, longshoreman, and auto-mechanic. He loved motorcycles, music, animals, and all things purple. Chuck’s passion and determination were evident in everything he did. He was a creative and music fanatic with eclectic tastes such as Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, Take 6, Parliament Funkadelic, Prince, and Ludacris. Chuck was known for his generosity and kindness, which touched the lives of many. Chuck was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. When asked how he was doing, Chuck always responded, "blessed and grateful." Those who love and adore him find joy in knowing that one day they will see him again, and until that day arrives, they will carry the memories of times past and their never-ending love for him in their hearts. Through those hearts, his legacy of love and support will never die. Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lee Jones Sr. and Sarah Ann Jones, and his brother Donald Jones Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Sue Jones; children, Leroy Boyd Sr. (Carrie), Brandy Osimokun (Banky), and Charles Alexander Jones Jr.; stepson, Ronnie LeCompte(Sheila); brother, Richard Jones; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Atterbury VFW, 649 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE, on Friday, February 21, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice in Chuck’s name.
