Charles "Chuck" Andrew Morris

Charles (Chuck) Andrew Morris went to be his Savior on October 3, 2022, at the age of 45 in Newark, DE. His battle with ALS showed his courage and bravery in facing challenges with a smile and perseverance. As a child Chuck proclaimed a faith in Jesus and this carried him through his life. Chuck was born and grew up near Trenton, New Jersey. He moved to Delaware after marrying Christina. Chuck graduated from Mercer Christian Academy, Mercer County Community College, and Thomas Edison University. Chuck had many jobs throughout his life. He started at Yardville Pharmacy then worked at Erney’s Unfinished Furniture. After moving to Delaware, he was a Shoe Department Manager at Kohl’s, taught History and Gym at Elkton Christian Academy, was a Correctional Officer and finally a Correctional Counselor for the State of Delaware. Chuck loved nature and all sorts of outdoor activities. He enjoyed hiking, kayaking, geocaching, camping, and an occasional cave exploration, especially with friends and family. He was also a history buff who enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of American history. These things combined to make him interested in traveling in the US to historical sites and natural wonders. Chuck was an avid Phillies fan his whole life. Whether watching live, on television, or listening to the radio, he tried to catch every game. He never gave up on his team even when they didn’t perform well. His loyalty only increased after his diagnosis. After diagnosis Chuck stepped into an advocacy role for PALS (people with ALS). He spread awareness of the disease and also was an ally to others experiencing the symptoms. He was involved with the ALS Association of Philadelphia, the Crusaders for Chuck Walk team and Hope Loves Company. Chuck’s greatest joy was his wife and children. He created field trips for them when they were homeschooling and planned weekly family movie nights complete with a custom announcement at the beginning of each showing. He also enjoyed playing jokes and having a good laugh with them. He absolutely loved it when the kids got old enough to send jokes back at him. Chuck is survived by his wife, Christina; their four children: Madeline, William Michael (Mikey), Conner, and Katherine (Katie); his mother and stepfather, Charlotte and Michael Toth; his brothers, William and James; and many other friends and family. He was predeceased by his father, William Morris. A visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 8:30-10 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Chuck’s life at 10 AM. Burial will follow in White Clay Creek Presbyterian Cemetery.
