Christopher Thurgood Harmon Sr.

On April 18, 2023, Christopher Thurgood Harmon, Sr. passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Christiana Hospital. He was born June 1, 1971, to his loving parents Charles and Joan Harmon in Chester, PA. Chris was an outgoing, charismatic, loving funny guy who always greeted everyone with a big smile. He was loved by so many and had many who called him friend. He was affectionally known by so many nicknames: Cheese, Money, Chris Rock and Big Guy. He was also known as Uncle Chris to many young adults that grew up with his children and looked up to him as a father figure. Chris shared a 35-year long love story with Tracy. They were introduced by their best friends in high school and instantly fell in love. Chris loved traveling with Tracy, spending summers at the beach with his kids, taking long rides in the country and many date nights. They spent their years raising their family and putting them first. This was what Chris was taught by his parents and he was proud to model their values. Anyone who knew Chris knew about his love for fast cars, his gun collection, the Lakers, and his mother’s tasty fried chicken! And oh, how did Chris love his brothers! Van who always gave good big brother advice, Robert who always gave a good laugh, and everyone knew wherever Charlie was, Chris wasn’t too far behind! They did everything together and were two peas in a pod! Chris was a man of great faith who loved the Lord and was serving at Arising Ministries Christian Center in Middletown, DE. His favorite Scripture was 1 Corinthians 13:4, “Love is Patient, love is kind…”, which is how he lived his life. He was an outstanding loving father who was involved in his children’s lives. Throughout the years, he dedicated his time to his children, coaching basketball, taking his daughter to gymnastics and cheerleading competitions. In his later years he grew into the role of Pop Pop and his new mission was to spoil all of them and give them whatever they wanted! Chris was a proud entrepreneur who owned and operated Harmon Enterprises Commercial Cleaning for 15 years and worked for Johnson Controls in Middletown, DE as a millworker for 10 years. Chris was a loving and devoted husband, father, and pop pop. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 30 years who was the love of his life and his high school sweetheart,Tracy; three devoted children: Christopher Jr. (Ashley), Andre, and Alexis (Kiere); grandchildren who he adored: Blake, Noah, Elijah, Jeremiah, and Kairo; brothers: Van (Millicent), Robert (Denise), and Charles Jr. (Julia); sister, Kelly Miller; devoted nieces and nephews: Tiffany (Nimrod), Buddy (Sophia), Michael, Danesha, Charles III (Cassandra), Shawn, and Lehla and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, devoted cousins, and his American Bully, Draco.
