Claudia L. Curtis

Claudia L. Curtis, 66, passed on to be in God's glorious presence Monday, November 17, 2025, ending her nearly two-year fight against cancer. The daughter of Claude and Becky Holloway, of Wilmington, DE. Claudia graduated from Newark High School in 1976, achieved her associate's degree in medical transcription from Goldie Beacom College, and later earned her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Education from the University of Delaware. In October of 1978, while living for a short time in Tempe, Arizona, Claudia prayed to receive Jesus Christ into her heart. Having moved back to Delaware in 1979, Claudia became rooted in living for Christ and became a member of the Newark Christian Fellowship, AKA The Barn. In 1994, she met her husband, Rob Curtis, and they were married in February of 1995. Claudia was an accomplished teacher for nearly 20 years in the Christina School District where she particularly loved teaching second grade at McVey Elementary. Rob and Claudia enjoyed hosting international students through the ELI program at UD as well, especially students from Japan. Along with her joy in country line dancing, Claudia attended Bible studies at the Newark Senior Center, and was an active volunteer with the RMCA Civic Association and the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia. But it's safe to say that the beach was her happy place. Claudia was a prayer warrior, danced in the Spirit, gave prophetic words and was a tremendous encourager. She kept up with many friends and relatives, and took daily walks with her beloved dogs where she'd take the time to touch base with friends and neighbors. Claudia was preceded by her parents and her husband of 26 years. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Bob and Debra Holloway; siblings-in-law: Ken & Marty Curtis, Ginnie & Sam Spatola, Anne Curtis, Mike & Meredith Curtis, Chris & Natalie Curtis; and countless friends. There will be a Celebration of Life service held at the Immanuel Church at 2414 Pennsylvania Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. and a private interment at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
