Connie L. Latham

Connie L. Latham, age 60, of St. George’s, DE, passed away, peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on October 6, 2023. She was born in Wilmington, DE on March 28, 1963, daughter of Phyllis M. Burke (Jones) and the late Donald R. Burke, Sr. Connie graduated from Howard Career Center in 1981. In 1986, Connie married the love of her life, Michael W. Latham, and they created 37 years of wonderful memories. They had two children and two grandchildren, who were the light of her world. She dedicated over 15 years, on Thanksgiving Day, for the Multiple Sclerosis Society’s annual Turkey Trot. This was a cause she supported as she battled MS for many years. Connie also volunteered for an annual event that benefited the New Castle Little League for nearly a decade. Connie loved travelling with her husband and family. Over the years, she enjoyed trips to Sunset Beach, Disney World, Wildwood Beach, Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia 76ers games, and visited many of the Major League Baseball stadiums around the country. She also cruised with her husband to Bermuda twice. She enjoyed concerts, comedy shows, bowling with her friends, bingo, playing cards and board games, line dancing, and her penguins. She dedicated 40 years of service to Wilmington Savings Fund Society “WSFS”. Connie lived the company values, daily, through the passion and pride she took in her work and shared with both her customers and colleagues. Connie was diagnosed with kidney cancer 6 years ago, but this did not change how she courageously and passionately lived life exuding strength, kindness, and grace. She consistently inspired hope and perseverance. She loved and was loved fiercely. Connie will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her loving husband, Michael W. Latham; son, Michael W. Latham II (Samantha); daughter, Alisha M Latham Banas (Christopher); grandchildren, Alexandria and Michael; mother, Phyllis M. Burke; sisters, Marie Cahill (Joe) and Sylvia Cordill (Ronnie); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Connie was preceded in death by her father, Donald R. Burke; brother, Donald R. Burke Jr.; and sister, Phyllis Radcliff. A viewing will be held on Sunday October 15, 2023, from 6pm-8pm at Strano & Feeley, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. Another visitation with be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 16, 2023, at 10am. with services to follow at 11am. A burial will follow at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
