Dale Langrehr

Dale Langrehr, age 82, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He left this world holding the hand of his beloved wife, Terry. Dale was born on his family’s farm in Evansville, Illinois, to the late Edmund and Louise Langrehr. After graduating high school and attending airline trade school, he was employed by Allegheny Airlines which later became USAir. With USAir, he worked at several major airports in various positions for 34 years and retired in 1993. After retirement, he started his own small business selling mushrooms directly from the grower to various restaurants in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. After his wife’s retirement, they began doing Farmers Markets together at the Delaware Beaches. For over 15 years, they sold mushrooms at the markets in Lewes, Rehoboth, and Bethany, where Dale became known as the “Mushroom Man.” A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Dale leaves behind his loving wife of 60 ½years, Terry/Theresa; his son, Jeff (Shelly); his daughter, Vicki (John Davidson); his son, Doug (Ruth); and his son, Chad (Trisha). Dale, known lovingly as Pop Pop, will be greatly missed by his 11 grandchildren - Mae, Zack, Miranda, Anna, Abby, Rose, Jenna, Ryan, Chase, Jackson, and Addison. He was and will continue to be an important part of their lives. He is cherished by many extended family members whom he loved dearly, including the Strickland, Fitzgerald, Vitalo, DeAngelis, and Oakes families. Pop Pop loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their various events. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially cycling and running. He competed in biathlons and participated in many Bike to the Bays, always placing well in his age group. A visitation will be Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM as well as on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Strano & Feeley Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702. with a service to begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be immediately following at New St. Paul Cemetery.
