Dana F. Wasmundski

Dana F. Wasmundski, age 52, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022. Dana was born in Chester, PA, and then as a child moved to Delaware where he spent the rest of his life. Dana attended Christiana High School and later received his GED from James Grove School. He also attended the Wilmington Skills Center where he studied General Construction. Earlier in his life, Dana did local grass cutting, lawn maintenance, painting and handyman jobs. He worked in the family owned business doing home inspections. Dana also worked for various contractors and helped to remodel bathrooms and kitchens including tiling, flooring, painting and woodworking. Dana spent time as a carpenter’s assistant where he did deck building, roofing, siding and carpentry work. Dana had his own unique personality. He was often a loner, but could talk your ear off as many family members would tell you. He loved gardening, cooking, cycling, fishing, and playing basketball. Dana was an avid reader and had an extensive gardening and cooking library. He deeply loved all living things including animals, birds, and flowers. Dana leaves behind many broken hearts of those who knew and loved him. Dana is survived by his parents, Francis and Charlotte “Dottie” Wasmundski; brother, Rick Wasmundski (Keena Brown); aunts and uncles: Linda Cahall-Graham, Josephine Curry, Sonia Melville, Jane Bush, Shirley Warren, Walt Schopf, Chuck Donophan (John Skadsberg), and John Baglione; Also mourning his loss are cousins: Melissa & Jim Gilbert, Lewis Hawley Jr., Sonia Solomon, Stacey Burke (Michael), Earl Melville (Chris), and Bev Potter (Tim); special neighbors, Ray & Barb Treanor; and Betsy, the family pet. Dana was preceded in death by his grandparents, John & Margie Cahall and Joseph & Sophie Wasmundski; Charles and Doris Donophan; aunts and uncles: Sharon “Peachy” Short, Bernice Schopf, Art Graham, Dick Curry, and Earl Melville; and special cousins: Billy Schopf, Stephanie Callaway, and Melanie Graham. A visitation will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 11 AM-12 Noon at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Dana’s life at 12 Noon.
