David John Ortiz

David John Ortiz was born April 7, 1966 in Wilmington, Delaware to Carolyn Smith Ortiz and Teodoro Zayas Ortiz. David went to sleep in Jesus on July 4, 2023 and was predeceased by both parents, a sister, Jane Cisneros and two brothers, Bill Bell and Bob Bell. David was an active member in the Ellicott City, Maryland Seventh-day Adventist Church until his retirement. He was involved in volunteering in whatever role he could, from teaching vegan cooking classes and helping in the kitchen for the weekly lunches, to reaching out to help whomever he could. He enjoyed nothing more than to witness to others about his love for Jesus. He worked as a Program Analyst for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Maryland. His health prevented him from doing so many things he loved, but he never gave up trying to make the best of a not so pleasant situation. David was multi-talented. He loved to cook and even took on baking later in life. He was very talented in doing so. He listened to a variety of genre of music, but as he aged, he tended to gravitate more toward his collection of Christian music. He was able to fix almost anything, remodeled the family home, and did professional grade carpentry. Nothing gave him more pleasure and satisfaction than to spend time with his wife. The two were almost inseparable. They loved to travel together, especially to their favorite spot in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. David is survived by his wife, Beverly, two sons, Mike Baker (Misty) and Aaron Baker. His three grandsons, Christian (Tria), Cameron (Ryan) and Rian and one granddaughter, Andie. He has one sister, Christine of New Jersey, three brothers, Ted , Ralph (Yayi) of Delaware and Tim of Florida. He has multiple cousins, nieces and nephews, too numerous to name. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing and service on Monday, July 10, 2023 at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road from 9:30 – 11 AM, where a service will be held at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Wilmington.
