In Loving Memory of Delbert Lee Nida Jr. March 15, 1963 – January 30, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Delbert Lee Nida Jr., who left this world on January 30, 2025, at his residence. Born on March 15, 1963, at Wilmington General Hospital at 7 a.m., Delbert was the beloved son of Stanley B. Williams and Ada Mae Williams. A devoted husband, Delbert met the love of his life, Susan Carol Nida, in October of 1980 at Howard Vo-Tech Career Center. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on April 14, 1984, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Castle. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Delbert was a proud father to Christopher Michael Nida Sr. and the late Elaina Lynn Nida. His love for his children was endless, and he carried Elaina’s memory in his heart every single day. As a grandfather to Christopher M. Nida Jr., he found immense joy and pride in watching his legacy live on through the next generation. After dedicating 36 years of service to Boeing, Delbert retired, embracing the simple pleasures of life. He found solace in nature, whether he was hunting in the quiet woods, casting a fishing line into the water, cruising on his boat, or tending to his garden. His love for the outdoors was a reflection of his soul—peaceful, steady, and deeply rooted in the beauty of life. Beyond his personal passions, Delbert was a pillar in his community. As a leader of Elaina’s Blessings Foundation, he worked tirelessly to honor his daughter’s memory by spreading kindness and support to those in need. His impact will continue to be felt by all who were touched by his generosity and compassion. Delbert’s love for rock and country music echoed through his life, setting the rhythm for cherished memories with friends and family. He was more than a husband, father, and grandfather—he was an amazing friend, brother, son, uncle, and son-in-law. He is survived by his sisters, Bonnie Wasylyszyn (Andy) and Debbie Nida, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, who adored him dearly. Delbert was also the cherished son-in-law of the late Albert and Joan Mangini. His presence brought warmth and strength to his family, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. We will gather to honor Delbert’s life on February 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at Café Napoli 4391 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE 19808, where we will share stories, laughter, and love in his memory.
