Doris Ann Reynolds

Doris Ann Reynolds, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Doris was a devoted wife, mother, and friend whose strength, spirit, and unwavering love for the Lord left a lasting impression on all who knew her. A faithful member of New Heart Ministries in Newark, DE, she lived her life with joy, generosity, and purpose. She had a deep love for music and found great joy in supporting her husband as he played in his band, often attending performances at local clubs. Doris also had a gift for cooking and baking, always eager to prepare meals for loved ones, friends in need, or anyone who needed a little extra care. Doris gave generously of her time and talents. She was an active volunteer with the Hockessin VFW, where she served as Treasurer of the Women’s Auxiliary, and she held the title of President of the East Coast 8 Ball League. Her passion for billiards took her to tournaments in Las Vegas and St. Louis, where she proudly brought home several wins. Creative and artistic, Doris had a natural eye for design and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and other crafts. She also loved traveling and RVing, embracing every new adventure with enthusiasm. Above all, Doris cherished her time with family and friends. Whether she was riding on the back of a Harley with her husband on the way to Sturgis, enjoying long phone calls with friends, or simply spending quiet time at home, her happiness was rooted in the presence of those she loved. Doris was a mother to many and a friend to all. Her warmth, kindness, and love will be missed deeply by everyone who had the joy of knowing her. Doris is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Robert W. Reynolds Jr.; children: Debra Ambrose, Douglas Blevins, Donna Tidwell (Timothy), and Barbara A. Reynolds (Steve); brother, Edward Leroy Jarrell (Lori); her stepsisters, Diane Furlong and Debbie Harkins (Steve); 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma & Edward L Jarrell; grandson, Sean Tidwell; daughter-in-law, Lisa Cherico; her stepson and his wife, Robert Reynolds III and Monica Reynolds; her sister, Darlene L. Jarrell; step-father, Emmanuel J. Harkins; and brother-in-law, Jim Furlong. Family and friends are invited to attend services for Doris on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Strano and Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM followed by a celebration of life starting at 11 AM.
