Edward Michael Flynn

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for the time we were blessed to share, we announce the passing of Edward M. Flynn, a man whose spirit was always on the go, whose generosity knew no limits, and whose strength—both physical and emotional—carried him and those he loved through every season of life. Ed was wonderfully selfless, steadfast, and, in the best of ways, stubborn. He stood firm in his values, his loyalty, and his love. Anyone who knew him could depend on him, and he showed up for others with unwavering dedication. Ed began his working life as a truck driver, and his love of being on the road never faded. He later found his professional home at Union Park in Wilmington, DE, where he proudly worked for 33 years, retiring in January 2025. He left behind a long legacy of hard work, dedication, and friendships formed over decades. He was a devoted father and is survived by his children: Dennis Flynn; Lawrence Flynn; Thomas (Kelly) Flynn; Francis (Amy) Flynn; and Katherine Flynn. Each of them carries forward pieces of his humor, his drive, and his resilience. He was also a proud grandfather to Victor Flynn, Julian Flynn, Zachary Flynn, Andrew (Julia) Flynn, Shane Fanning, and Maxwell Flynn-Hudson, all of whom brought him immense joy. Ed is survived as well by his loving brothers, Frank (Karen) Flynn and Joseph (Janet) Flynn, who shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and brotherly connection with him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Rose Flynn, who now welcome him home with love. Ed shared a particularly special bond with his grandson Shane Fanning, which began when he helped Shane with his elementary school math homework. Their relationship grew into a treasured friendship through time spent together, especially on their bowling league. When Shane joined the United States Navy in 2021, Ed’s pride in him was immeasurable. He is also lovingly remembered by his lifetime partner, Terry Bacher, who describes him as a true, loyal, and deeply loving partner. Ed was a wonderful father figure to her sons, Robert and Aaron Bacher, and Terry will forever cherish the memories of vacations, shared moments, and attending church together. He forever valued the friendship of Leslee Moore, a long-time friend who held a special place in his life. Edward M. Flynn leaves behind a legacy defined by love, resilience, loyalty, and devotion to family. His presence will be deeply missed, but the lessons he lived—quiet strength, kindness, and selfless dedication—will continue to guide all who were fortunate enough to know him.
