Edward "Ted" Webber

Edward (Ted) Webber of Bear Delaware went home to be with Jesus surrounded by his loving family and close friends on November 20, 2023, at the age of 82. Ted was a devoted husband, father, granddad, great granddad, brother, uncle and friend. His greatest joys in life were his loving wife Jean of 61 years, his family and most importantly, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ted's desire was to serve the Lord in all he did, and this was demonstrated by actions. Ted graduated from P.S. Dupont High School where he played football and sang in the choir and the University of Delaware with both his undergraduate and graduate degree. He retired from the public school system after teaching elementary math and science for 34 years. His teaching didn't stop there, he was asked to start Red Lion Christian Academy, where he was the school’s first Headmaster. When he hung up his education hat, he filled his time serving his church, family and friends. When someone had a need, he did what he could to meet their need. He had many hobbies including singing, hunting, fishing, golfing, watching, coaching and playing both softball and baseball. He also loved woodworking and spent many hours handcrafting beautiful gifts for his family and friends. Ted was gifted with a beautiful voice. He used his talent to sing in numerous church choirs, the University of Delaware Concert Choir, The Barbershoppers and the Gospel Messenger Quartet. Ted is survived by his beloved wife Jean G. Webber, his children, Peggy Jensen, Susan (Bob) Straughn, Jeff (Kimberly) Webber and daughter-in-law Jessica Webber. Grandchildren, Kailey Jensen, Bristol (Jim) Bachman, Morgan (Jason) Elliott, Josiah Straughn, Shannon Straughn, Chris Webber, Maddie Jensen and Claire Webber. Great grandchildren, Charlotte, Chase, Colton, Carter, Connor and Sloane. His sister Alice Bridgewater, brother-in-law Ray Ellis, sister-in-law Marjorie Harrison and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents Ada and James (Buddy) Webber, his in-laws Margaret and Eldred Gonzalez, son-in-law James Jensen, sister Lorraine Ellis and brothers-in-law Jack Harrison and Clay Bridgewater. A visitation will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, from 9:30-11 AM at Bible Fellowship Church, 808 S. Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702 followed by a celebration of Ted’s life at 11 AM.
