Eleanor Marie Fields

Eleanor Marie Conner Fields, age 79, of Nottingham, PA was escorted into the presence of God on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Her body was restored and healed of the Parkinson’s Disease she fought so bravely. Ellen was a kind and loving woman who adored her family. She was an amazing wife, Mom, MomMom, GGMom, sister, daughter, and friend. Ellen loved time spent with her family and friends. Despite being teased for her love of shopping and doing returns, she spent many hours finding the perfect gift for those she loved. Ellen had a quick wit and contagious sense of humor, bringing joy to those around her. She was absolutely in love with her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She always enjoyed attending their school and sports events. Ellen was a committed Christian and always sought to honor the Lord in all she did. She was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Edward and Bernice Conner. Ellen grew up in an extraordinary and loving family where siblings and cousins became best friends for life and the next generations followed suit. She was blessed with many lifelong friendships as well. Ellie and her husband Ron were deeply in love and were a wonderful example of a Godly marriage. They were proud to celebrate 61 years of marriage on August 13. Ellen and Ron raised their family of five children in North Wilmington, DE and many happy times were spent with extended family playing games, telling jokes, and gathering around Grandmom’s famous raisin bread. Ron and Ellen enjoyed visiting the Chester and Lancaster County, PA areas, often stopping at favorite restaurants like Shady Maple. After taking many long drives in the country, they decided to move to a home they loved in Nottingham in 1993. Once they settled into country life, they formed many new friendships and enjoyed their activities and church family at Oxford Church of the Nazarene. Ellen was known as a sweetheart who went out of her way to make others feel loved and welcomed. She was the kind of Mom that your friends all wished they had. Whether lovingly remembered as “El Baby”, “Ellie” or “Ellen” she will forever be known as one with a servant’s heart who opened her home, arms, and heart to all who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue in the lives of the family and friends who adored her right back. Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ronald W. Fields Sr.; her children: Ronald Fields Jr. and wife, Michele; Karen Feeley; Kathleen Capel and husband, James; John Fields and wife, Heidi; and Mari Ferm and husband, Jordan. She was blessed with 13 precious grandchildren: Ashley Skarda (Loren), Joseph J. Feeley III, Alicia Williams (Casey), James Tyler Capel (Derek), Jillian Mahoney (Christopher), Abigail Fields; Rebecca Fields, Madison Ferm, Jonathan Fields, Samantha Ferm, Andrew Fields, Benjamin Fields, and Jack Ferm; and her great granddaughter, Ainsley Skarda; Ellen is also survived by her siblings: Joan Wilkinson, Linda Seitelman, Daniel Conner (Sandra), and Patricia Bahr; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Chuck Cavanaugh; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her grandson, Joseph J. Feeley III; her parents, Edward and Bernice Conner; in-laws, Frank and Ena Fields; her sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Raymond Ingram, brothers-in-law, Ronnie Figgatt, Dale Bahr, and Michael Seitelman; and several special nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 10 AM-12 PM on Monday, August 23 at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702. A service in celebration of Ellen’s life will follow at Noon. Burial will take place at Hickory Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, August 24 at 10 AM.
