Erin Ann Dougherty

It is with great sorrow that the Dougherty family announces the passing of Erin Ann Dougherty. From the moment of her birth on October 2nd, 1997, to the moment of her death on October 6th, 2023, Erin brought so much love, light, and humor to those who were closest to her. She graduated from Paul M. Hodgson Vocational Technical high school in 2016, one of only two candidates for an esteemed co-op position at Nemours children's hospital. In her adult years, her tenacity and determination led her to excel in many professional fields: medical billing, project managing, and consulting for the federal government. Not only did Erin have a knack for climbing the corporate ladder, but she also had a passion for taking care of her pets Lucy, Harley, and Rex. She was never afraid to step up and help an animal in need, regularly volunteering at local animal shelters and raising awareness for the ASPCA, Faithful Friends, and the Humane Society of Delaware. In her spare time, she actively sought out adventure. She enjoyed traveling and trying new things, whether it was an exciting experience or a new type of cuisine, Erin never backed down from a challenge. In fact, Erin was a challenge—she held strong in her convictions and urged others to do the same, no matter how difficult it may be. The world was a better place with her in it and she will live on in the beauty of the nature she loved so much. Erin is survived by her parents, Edward and Lisa; older sister, Kathleen; younger brother, EJ; grandparents, Ivan and Charlotte Kobets; aunt, Kim; uncle, Dennis; cousin, Matthew; aunt, Ethel; uncle, Ivan; cousin, Lairryssa; and her pets: Lucy, Rex, and Harley. A visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2023, from 1:30-3 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service at 3 PM. A celebration of life will be held at 5 PM at the Executive Banquet Hall, 205 Executive Dr, Newark, DE 19702.
