Francisco Gonzalez

Francisco “Panama” Gonzalez, age 86, of Wilmington, DE, went home to be with the Lord on May 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Arraijan, Panama in 1939, Francisco moved to Manhattan, NY in 1956. He was a loving father, welo, brother, and great uncle. Starting out his career as a welder, he would later become a recruiter for high education and ended his career working for the Recreational Department in New York. He loved playing in domino tournaments and sharing his knowledge with others. He was always willing to help anyone he could and was a very simple nonmaterialistic man. Francisco also enjoyed going to Delaware Park, singing, dancing, shaking his maracas, and spending time with family and friends -especially during the holidays. Francisco is survived by his son, Franky (Aida) Gonzalez; grandchildren: Brittney (Chris) Nash and Daniel Gonzalez; great grandson, Grayson; brother, Valentin Gonzalez; longtime friend, Clara Feliciano, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents: Antonio and Antonia Gonzalez; brothers: Pastor, Gregorio and Antonio; and sisters: Oracia, Elicia and Nilsa. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9 – 10 AM at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic, 1010 W. 4th St in Wilmington, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund, 1010 W. 4th Street Wilmington, DE 19805. Francisco “Panamá” González, de 86 años, residente de Wilmington, Delaware, partió a la presencia del Señor el 4 de mayo de 2025 rodeado por su amada familia. Nacido en Arraiján, Panamá, en 1939, Francisco se mudó a Manhattan, Nueva York, en 1956. Fue un padre, hermano, abuelo y tío amoroso. Comenzó su carrera como soldador, luego se convertiría en reclutador para la educación superior y terminó su carrera trabajando para el Departamento de Recreación de Nueva York. Le encantaba participar en torneos de dominó y compartir sus conocimientos. Siempre estaba dispuesto a ayudar a quien pudiera y era un hombre sencillo y no materialista. Francisco también disfrutaba ir al Delaware Park Casino cantar, bailar, tocar sus maracas, y pasando tiempo con familiares y amistades especialmente durante los días feriados. A Francisco le sobreviven su hijo, Franky (Aida) González; sus nietos: Brittney (Chris) Nash y Daniel González; su bisnieto, Grayson; su hermano, Valentín González; su buena amiga, Clara Feliciano, así como sus muchos sobrinos, sobrinas y primos. Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres: Antonio y Antonia González; sus hermanos: Pastor, Gregorio y Antonio; y sus hermanas: Oracia, Elicia y Nilsa. Se invita a familiares y amigos al velatorio el sábado 17 de mayo de 2025, de 9:00 am 10:00 am, en la Iglesia Católica Romana de San Pablo, ubicada en 1010 W. 4th St., Wilmington. Allí se celebrará la exequial fúnebre de quien en vida fue Francisco Gonzalez las 10:00 am. El entierro se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio Silverbrook, también en Wilmington. En lugar de flores, la familia solicita donaciones en su memoria al Fondo de Construcción de San Pablo, ubicado en 1010 W. 4th Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
