Frederic Michael Venette

Frederic Michael Venette, 73, lost his battle with Parkinson’s Disease on February 15, 2024. He was born on June 24, 1950, to Fred and Shirley A. Venette in Portsmouth, Virginia. Fred grew up in Schenectady, NY spending his summers at “The Camp,” on Mariaville Lake. He and his sisters, Nadine, and Marcelle were known to attempt to warm the outdoor thermometer with their breath in hopes of increasing the temperature to 70 degrees, so they could hit the lake to go swimming. The family continues to visit the camp every summer, however this summer will have a huge hole in it without Freddie Mike, as he was known to close family. Fred graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, NY and obtained two bachelor’s degrees in psychology and mechanical engineering from the University of Buffalo and later University of New Orleans. Fred and Ruby Dell Venette celebrated 40 amazing years together this past December, meeting in Texas in 1983. Fred had a love for camping and would spend many summers traveling with his two sons and Ruby, up and down the east coast in an old Winnebago, AKA, “The Moose”. Fred later was a lover of music and enjoyed spending his evenings sitting by a campfire, listening to classic rock, drinking a corona while playing along on his guitar. Fred enjoyed taking photos and could always be seen gathering the family for candid shots together to look fondly on. The summers at “The Camp,” were filled with family, water sports, boating on the lake and many evenings laughing and singing around the campfire. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Shirley A. Venette. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Dell Venette; son, Eric Marcel Venette; daughter-in-law, Brie Michele Venette; son, Michael Dale Venette; two sisters who will miss him deeply, Nadine Venette and husband Brice Hill of New Orleans, LA and Marcelle Braemer of Orange City, FL; as well as many nieces and nephews. Fred has left many friends behind including the “Stupor Bowl” gang who would gather each year to watch the Super Bowl together.
