Gail Jean Beutler

Gail Jean Beutler passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Nanticoke Hospital in Seaford, Delaware. She was born on October 6, 1942, in Wilmington, Delaware, the daughter of the late L. Irving Hutchison, Jr. and Mariann Lokey. Irving later remarried Lorraine Hutchison. Gail earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science Degree in Finance. She was a financial counselor before becoming a CFO at the Delaware State Police Credit Union. Later in life Gail desired a career change and returned to graduate school earning a Master of Science Degree in Community Counseling. She was an addictions counselor for Kent Sussex Community Services until her retirement in 2015. Gail was a devout Catholic and was actively involved in her church community including serving as a eucharistic minister. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was known to be very creative and artistic, loved crafting, and was an expert seamstress and gourmet cook. Gail loved crosswords and logic puzzles. Most of all, she was known for her good sense of humor and loved a good laugh. Gail is survived by her sons,:Peter Beutler of Lincoln, DE and David Beutler and his wife Heather of Lincoln, DE; her daughters: Karen Brewer of Live Oak, FL and Kathleen Doherty of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; her sisters: Linda Brannock (Bobby) and Joyce Manwiller; and her grandchildren: Samantha Brewer, Caitlin Doherty Wise (Cody), Sean Doherty, Matthew Doherty, and Tyler Beutler (Michaela). Gail was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Lorraine Hutchison; her brother, Irving Hutchison III; her sister, Carol Burns; and her husband, Stanley Beutler. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. A funeral service in celebration of Gail’s life will take place at 11 AM. Burial immediately following the service will be in White Clay Creek Cemetery, 15 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE 19711.
