Gale Storm Britz

Gale Storm Britz, age 73, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, surrounded by her family. Gale was born in Chester, PA to John Bell Storm, Jr. and Evelyn Ralston Storm. She grew up in Elsmere, DE, attending Corpus Christi grade and high school. She graduated from the Hairdressing Academy and worked as a hairdresser for several years before choosing to stay at home to raise her three sons. As a nurturing and devoted caregiver, Gale eventually started her own daycare. She positively impacted the lives of many children over the years, all of whom remember her with affection. As a child, Gale loved spending time at the beach in Wildwood, NJ, and later enjoyed vacations in Rehoboth, DE with her husband and sons. Over the years, large extended family trips to the Outer Banks became a cherished tradition, and more recently, in Lewes, DE. These beach vacations were a source of joy and connection for Gale and her family. Newport, RI, also held a special place in her heart, as it was where she got married and lived for several years. She and her husband Joe returned multiple times over the years, making it an integral part of her life and memories. Gale was an avid reader, helping to establish a family book club that has spanned over 20 years. This enduring tradition brought family and friends together, fostering a love for literature and creating lasting memories through shared discussions and experiences. Gale was a devoted fan of all Philadelphia sports teams, with a special affection for the Phillies—a passion that began with her father. She was also a skilled crocheter, creating many beautiful blankets for her family that were deeply cherished. Each handmade piece carried the love and care she poured into her craft. Out of all the titles that Gale held, her favorite was “Nana.” She adored her seven grandchildren and was always there to support them in their various interests and sports activities. Gale's dedication to her family was unwavering, and she devoted her life to nurturing and encouraging them, making her role as a grandmother truly special. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Joseph Britz; her sons: Joseph II and his wife Stephanie, Jonathan and his wife Tara, and Jeffrey. Her granddaughters: Samantha, Kylie, and Abigale; and grandsons: Jonathan II, Maximus, Joseph III, and Matthew Britz. Her siblings: Susan Saggione (Joe), Marybeth Mulligan (Donald), Margaret DeBoda (Mike), Sally Brooks, Matthew Storm (Kathy), and sister-in-law, Joyce Storm. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children. Gale was pre-deceased by her parents, brother John Storm III; and sister, Michele Storm-Gosser. A celebration of Gale’s life will be announced at a later date, providing an opportunity for family to come together and honor her memory.
