Georgine A. Stanitski

Georgine A. Stanitski, age 88, formerly of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on April 4, 2024, in Stafford, Virginia. Georgine was born in Ashland, PA and grew up in Shamokin, PA. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Edward High School in Shamokin. She married the love of her life, Leonard Stanitski, on May 31, 1958, and moved to Wilmington, DE. She enjoyed working at Wilmington Trust, as the bookkeeper at Earle’s Tire Sales, and many years working at Brandywine and Delaware Park Racetracks. Georgine was a parishioner at St. Matthew Catholic Church for over 60 years. Georgine loved bowling and bowled in many leagues and tournaments, and in a couple’s league for many years with her husband, Len. She and Len enjoyed attending craft shows where they sold many items that they both handmade. They also enjoyed attending monthly dinners and events with their General Motors friends. Georgine loved spending time with her family and friends. Georgine was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Leonard Stanitski; and her loving parents, Daniel and Irene Komara. She is survived by her children, Leanne Dalton (Ronald) of Stafford, VA, and Daniel Stanitski of Newark, DE; Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Justin Dalton, Steven Dalton (Kalyn), Rebeka Dalton, Dana Dougherty (sons Maxwell and Quin), Daniel Stanitski, Jr. (Angelica) (son Roman), Samuel Stanitski (Katie) (son Henry). She is also survived by her sisters, Anne Marie Volanoski (Kenneth) and Valerie Madei and many loved nieces and nephews. Georgine had many wonderful caregivers over the last few years including her sister, Valerie Madei, her niece, Michelle Bolinski, Linda Pipkin of Wilmington, DE, Barbara Congo of Wilmington, DE, St. Francis Home Healthcare of Wilmington, DE, Sandra Francis of Stafford, VA, Schyler Roberson of Fredericksburg, VA, Kimberley Kay of Spotsylvania, VA, and the wonderful staffs at Carriage Hill Rehabilitation Facility and Amedisys Hospice Care. Georgine received wonderful pastoral care from Fr. Hazard at St. Matthew Catholic Church and Fr. Will Nyce, St. William of York Catholic Church in Stafford, VA. Georgine had a special place in her heart for Fr. Will due to his frequent visits to care for her while she was in the hospital, the rehab facility, and at home. A viewing will be held on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Strano and Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 10-11 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE, 19804. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.
