Gerald "Jerry" Wegman

Gerald Ross Wegman, age 67, of Wilmington, DE, peacefully passed away from this life to God’s hands at home with his wife Lisa at his side August 23, 2021. Jerry was born July 8, 1954, in Wilmington, DE. He graduated from Newark High school in 1973. Jerry was an always-busy person, the tough guy - confident and always striving at his aim to perfect what he was attempting. Always up for the challenge. The yards landscaping & the vegetable garden were successes he enjoyed a lot. At everything he did, Jerry would learn and practice with the goal of becoming better and better each time. He accepted no less for those whom he cared most. His expectations were verbal commands, often abrupt but coming from the place of you can do it, you have to put your best efforts always. Jerry worked hard to achieve and earned his way. His reward was his Harley Davison, which he cherished. He kept it perfect and had pure pleasure taking road rides escaping all else. The rides for charity were a double win. Jerry’s talent for music was evident from an early age with only one year of lessons he developed and refined his ability to hear each note and play back with amazing accuracy. As a teenager in a band, they created a 45 single that played on the radio & is displayed In the DE Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He played with many bands at various locations before eventually playing in FBC Band for the Lord. Jerry could Play 3 keyboards at one time. He shared his God-given talent for many to enjoy. For 3 decades, Jerry devoted most of his spare time to coaching youth soccer with enormous pleasure. Learning the game and many lives lessons; in return for his devotion, his players were successful both on the field and off. When hearing of his passing, many of the players he coached have expressed how many life lessons they learned from him & that they will never forget him. Known as DOC with Hogs for Heroes in NJ and MD, He donated his time to helping our vets and other heroes as a road captain amongst other volunteer efforts to show his support. Jerry’s biking days started as a teenager repairing bikes. He spent decades enjoying the uncaged adventure of riding & eventually the pure joy of Our Ultra Limited Harley. As road captain with Freedom Biker Church, we did many rides to support different charities and spread the word of God. Jerry was a Ford Master Technician for 35 + years. His Skill & intuition with vehicle repairs gained him the reputation as “best Mechanic Ever” by many. Jerry did not like the title mechanic he preferred Master Tech and he earned that title with many hours of perfecting every repair. Always fair & honest. Jerry tried a few different churches to find his place, where he could feel his closeness to God. Freedom Biker Church First State was where he joyfully embraced his faith. He was baptized and fully accepted Jesus as his Savior. Jerry loved playing the keys making beautiful music to praise the Lord. His talents in many things were his gifts from God. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Lisa-Anne Wegman; son, Jason Wegman; grandson, Damien Wegman; mother, Louise Wegman; and brothers: John Wegman, Dave Wegman, and Mike Wegman.
