Jacob Colton Wible

Jacob Colton Wible, 26, of Townsend, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 24, 2023, as a result of a fatal motorcycle accident. He will be missed dearly by so many who loved him. Jake was born at home on July 1, 1996 in Langhorne, PA. His parents then moved the family to Bear, DE when he was 2 years old along with older brother, Noah, and younger brother, late Josiah “Sy”. When he was 7, they moved to Port Penn Rd in Middletown, DE where the best of his childhood memories were created riding dirt bikes with his dad & brothers all over their farmland, many pool parties, paintball wars with friends, fishing at the little bridge, Civil Air Patrol activities, and skateboarding on the halfpipe his father built for him and his 5 siblings, which by then also included Joshua, Seth, and Emily. He accomplished so much in his short life and left a lasting impact on so many who loved him. Jake was a good-hearted, kind, intelligent, hard-working young man who had a lot of aspirations. He was always helping his mom with projects around the house and would drop anything to help someone in need. He could often be found fixing a stranded motorist’s car on the side of the road or in a gas station parking lot. At the age of 10, Jake began taking piano lessons, which developed into a lifelong love of playing the piano. He could not only read music, but he could play by ear just after listening to songs. The last thing his mother heard on the night of his accident was Jake playing the piano from the garage, which he had recently transformed into his auto repair workshop. Jake was a Civil Air Patrol Cadet with the Middletown Cadet Squadron from the age of 12-18, where he served as DDR Officer and Flight Sergeant from 2010-2014. He proudly received the 2009 Cadet Airman of the Year, the 2010 Cadet Non-Commission Officer of the Year, and the 2011 Cadet Non-Commission Officer of the Year awards. He also loved being on the Diamond Flight Drill Team, making it to the 2010 National Competition, and winning the Fleet Foot Male Color Guard award for fastest runner in 2012. These were just a few of his numerous achievements in CAP. As a teen many days were spent at Glasgow Skatepark with his BMX & scooter friends where he enjoyed doing crazy tricks in the bowls and airing off the ramps. “Jake the Bike Man” was well known for sharing his faith and bringing his skatepark friends to church on Sunday mornings after their wild Saturday nights together. Jake was Homeschooled and graduated in 2014 from the Red Lion Christian Academy Diploma Program at Glasgow Christian Academy’s Homeschool Program. He then went on to complete an Apprenticeship & Training program in the Fire Protection Industry as a Sprinkler Fitter through New Castle County Vo-Tech. Recently, Jake decided to put Fire Protection on hold to pursue his true passion of auto mechanics and having his own auto shop someday. He loved working on cars and developed a sophisticated software Code Reader program to diagnose car problems. Jake enjoyed building computer systems, hanging out with his buddies in the garage, playing pool at CP’s Pub, photography, riding dirt bikes, ATVs, and his motorcycle with the guys, spending time with his brothers, and ice skating with his sister, Emily. He was also passionate about his rifle collection and did some serious backyard target shooting with his brothers, friends, and neighbors. Jake was preceded in death by his father, Michael Wible, and brother, Josiah “Sy” Wible, who was also in a tragic motorcycle accident in 2017. Survived by his mother, Lisa Klinger; siblings: Noah, Joshua, Seth, and Emily Wible; nephew, Cyrus Wible; paternal grandmother, Kathleen Wible; great-aunt, Mary Wible; uncle, David Klinger (Michele); aunt, Celeste Wible; and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins; and beloved cat, Fluff. The Viewing will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 11 AM - 1 PM at Love of Christ Church in Bear, DE. The Service will begin at 1 PM followed by burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
