Jean Janney Antonelli

Jean Janney Antonelli, age 87, of Newark, Delaware went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2026. Jean was born in Oxford, PA to the late Carroll Albert Janney and Madeline Hanna Janney, and lived most of her life in Cecil County, MD. Jean was active at several churches, most recently at Elkton Presbyterian Church. Her Christian faith was very important to her; this inspired Jean to devote herself to serving and caring for her family and friends throughout her life. Jean loved riding horses, teaching others to ride, fox hunting, and competing in equestrian shows. She was a competitive member of several local softball teams and bowling leagues. Her other passion was gardening. Jean delighted in spending time in God's beautiful creation, working and enjoying countless hours in her exquisite flower gardens. Jean loved playing cards and dominoes, traveling the country, attending concerts and plays, and her weekly visits to Chick-fil-A. Throughout her life, Jean worked in several positions, but her favorite was the 27 years she spent as a sales consultant for Home Interiors, for which she earned many awards. She cherished the time she spent connecting with people and helping them decorate their homes. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Robert F. Antonelli; and her sister, Faye Barr. Jean is survived by her daughters: Sandy Peralta (Tom), and Judy Matthews; her sister, Pamela Janney Culley; her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; her late husband's loving family; and her precious friends. DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER EXPECTED MONDAY, THE SERVICES FOR JEAN WILL BE POSTPONED UNTIL THE FOLLOWING DAY ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2026 Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 10 to 11 AM at Elkton Presbyterian Church, 209 East Main St., Elkton, MD 21921. A service in celebration of Jean’s life will begin at 11 AM, with a luncheon to follow at the church. Burial will be private at Sharps Cemetery in Fair Hill, Maryland.
