Jose Andres Garcia

José Andrés Garcia, 62, entered into the loving arms of his Savior on April 2, 2018 with his family by his side in Newark, Delaware. From his birth in Lajas, Puerto Rico on November 29, 1955 to his promotion to glory on Monday, April 2, 2018 he touched the lives of those around him. As an active member of the United States Army Reserves, José served his country for six years, from 1975 until 1981, reaching the rank of Specialist E-4, and trained as an electrician at Ft. Leonard Woods, Missouri. José was a jack-of-all trades. He worked in mechanics, heating & air-conditioning, carpentry, and even construction. His hobbies included traveling, crabbing, and fishing. Some of his favorite moments where spending time with his family, and moreover developing a lasting and loving relationship with his nephews; not to leave out his nieces whom he cherished dearly. In the last years of his life he was a champion and a faithful believer who gave his life entirely to God and even influenced many through his love and faith. José was a loving father, proud grandfather, an endearing brother, a caring uncle, and a wonderful friend to many. He will be missed, however never forgotten. José leaves to his memory his son, José Andrés Santiago; seven siblings: Miguel Garcia, Beatrice Oquendo, Gilberto Garcia, Carmen Rosa Garcia, Delia Santiago, Sinahy Garcia, and Renee Tinnin; one grandson, Louis Angel Santiago; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends. A viewing will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Jose’s life with Rev. Randy Franco officiating at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery. The Garcia-Santiago family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff and physicians at Christiana Hospital, the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, Cadia Rehabilitation Center, along with so many individuals who demonstrated attentiveness and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in José’s name to the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home.
