Joyce T. Manwiller

Joyce T. Manwiller, age 82, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was a devoted Mother, Mom-Mom, Gigi, and a cherished friend to many. Her life was defined by faith, service, and deep love for her family. Through her association with the Lions Club, Joyce helped build and maintain a beautiful butterfly garden for the Thurgood Marshall Elementary School. She shared her gift of cooking by preparing luncheons for seniors at Salem United Methodist Church, where she was a lifelong member. Joyce was also a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Christiana Fire Company. Joyce attended Newark High School and the University of Delaware, where she studied mathematics and physics. Following her graduation, she worked at the DuPont Experimental Station and Morton Thiokol. She contributed to a variety of innovative projects ranging from chemical material testing to aerospace development. She took great pride in her work. Joyce treasured her family and friends, creating countless memories through holiday gatherings, family dinners, and trips; especially her trip to Hilton Head and her annual girls' trip to Lancaster. When not caring for others, she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, reading, and solving crossword puzzles. She will be dearly missed. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Joan Taylor Marshall; grandchildren: Heather Roberts (Bill), Steven Marshall, and Nicholas Bolgar (Maggie); great-grandchildren: Paul, Dylan, Arwyn, Liam, Harlow, and Everett; significant other, Stephen Tracy; sister, Linda Brannock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents L. Irving Hutchison Jr. and Marion Lokey; stepmother, Lorraine Hutchison; grandparents L. Irving Sr. and Clara Hutchison; grandson, Austin Roberts; siblings: Gail Beutler, L. Irving "Hutch" Hutchison Ill, Carol Burns; and husband, Carl Manwiller. A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 9:30 -11 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 (https://www.google.com/maps/search/635+Churchmans+Rd.,+Newark,+DE+19702?entry=gmail&source=g) followed by a service in celebration of Joyce’s life at 11 AM.
