Kerry Alan Johnson

Kerry Alan Johnson, passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 3, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born on April 18, 1959, to Kenneth and Ruth Johnson. A 1977 graduate of Christiana High School, Kerry spent many years working alongside his father at Ken Johnson Mason Contractor. He also held positions at Priority Express Courier as General Manager and at Cabela's, and most recently, he was a valued member of the New Castle County Public Works Forestry Department. Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Johnson, and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Seery. He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; his son, Adam Johnson; and his daughter, Amie Wright (Mike). He will also be deeply missed by his mother, Ruth Johnson; his brother, Marvin Johnson and his wife, Donna; and his sister, Tanya Johnson. Kerry’s life was further enriched by his cherished granddaughters, Audrey and Hannah Wright, and Arya Smith-Johnson, along with his sisters-in-law Diane Kelly and her husband Matt, Janet Bonjo and her husband Tim, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kerry had a passion for life and a love for the outdoors. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR and Philadelphia sports fan, and he enjoyed hunting, hiking, kayaking, and most of all, spending time with his family. His warmth, humor, and love will be remembered by all who knew him. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the AccentCare staff at Christiana Hospice for the compassion and care they provided Kerry and his family during this difficult time. The family warmly invites friends and loved ones to join them for a visitation at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702, at 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM on January 18, 2026. A visitation will also be held at Ebenezer UMC Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Rd, Newark, DE 19711, January 19, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
