Mark H. Odren

Mark Harry Odren passed away in his home in Newark, Delaware on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 69. Mark was born in Moses Lake, Washington in 1956. Throughout his childhood, he traveled the world as part of his father’s career in the United States Air Force. He lived with his family in many places, including Japan and a variety of states, from Alaska, to Delaware, and many in between. Mark attended Smyrna High School in Delaware, graduating in 1974, and continued his education at the University of Delaware, graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism. Mark held a variety of jobs early in his career, and he ultimately worked for Applied Card Systems for nearly 20 years. Mark had a lifelong love of comics, both as a collector and a dealer. He often participated in collectible toy and comic shows with his good friend, Craig Dawson. Mark was very passionate about music, and he enjoyed sharing his music knowledge with friends and family. He maintained an extensive collection of records and CDs, and some of his favorite bands were The Beatles, ELO, Yes, and Genesis. Mark was also a devoted fan of Philadelphia sports teams, for better or for worse, primarily following the Eagles (Go Birds) and the Phillies (Go Phils). Being a softball coach was something Mark took immense pride in. He loved coaching softball in Avon Grove, PA, where he was a coach on the local Little League and high school teams. Mark also was a travel softball coach for the Base Sharks, and he was on the board of the Avon Grove Recreation Association. Mark is predeceased by his parents, USAF Colonel (ret) Harry and Lorene Odren; and his brother-in-law, USMC Lieutenant Colonel David Knott. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Nancy of 46 years; his daughter, Lizzy (Dan) Habecker; his siblings Happy Knott, Lynn Odren (David Reiss), and Alex (Sarah) Odren; and his many nieces and nephews.
