Patricia S. Baker

Patricia Scott Baker of Middletown, DE, went home to be with the Lord on September 30, 2024, at the age of 89. She was born in Morrisville, PA on March 8,1935, to Franklin and Alice Scott. In 1952, Patricia and her husband, George D. Baker, were married and moved to the “Houston Farm” in Middletown, DE, where they farmed for over fifty years. Patricia was an active member of several churches throughout her life and most recently a member of Townsend Church. She was a women’s Bible study leader several times over the years and was also a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary. One of her proudest accomplishments was acquiring her private pilot’s license in 1965. Along with her husband they flew to many destinations in the country. They even did a cross-country flight to California and back. She was an active member of Flying Farmers and the Chapter Queen in 1964. She received the National Flying Farmers Women’s Solo Award in 1965. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by George, her husband of 68 years; a brother, Thomas Scott; and a granddaughter, Sarah P. Schafer. She is survived by her children: George (Betty) of Quarryville, PA, Scott (Dawn) of Townsend, Carolyn (George) of Middletown, Mark (Amber) of Middletown, and William of Middletown. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. We would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Maurine and Julia, and also to Compassionate Care Hospice and their staff. A viewing will be held at Townsend Church, 4519 Dupont Pkwy, Townsend, DE 19734, on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 9:30 - 11 AM, the funeral service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Old Drawyers Cemetery in Odessa, DE.
