Richard Kenneth Simpson

Richard Kenneth Simpson, age 92, went home to be reunited with his beautiful wife, Mary, on November 22, 2025. Born on July 11, 1933, Richard lived a long, full, and adventurous life surrounded by the people he loved most. Richard graduated from P.S. DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware, and later built a life centered around family, hard work, and the joy of exploring new places. After 30 years of dedication to his businesses, Campers Corner and The Bike Barn, he retired and embraced the freedom to travel, something he cherished so deeply. Richard and Mary shared a lifetime of unforgettable journeys. Together, they visited all 50 states, traveled everywhere, from Florida to the Mississippi River, enjoyed cruises, and even spent an extraordinary four and a half months exploring the wonders of Alaska together. For the past 30 years, Richard has made his winter home in Silver Springs, Florida, where he has continued to enjoy the simpler pleasures of life, including camping with family and making memories with his children and grandchildren. Richards' kindness and courage continued as he served in the U.S. Navy, dedicating and risking his life during the Korean War. He was stationed in Washington, DC, and he flew aerial photography. He served his time devotionally, proudly, with courage and strength, and is now a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. Richard is survived by his sons: Carl Simpson, Arthur Simpson, and Scott Simpson; his daughters, Susan Hurst (and her husband Arthur) and Patricia Hearn; his brothe,r Robert Simpson; six loving grandchildren; four wonderful great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Simpson; his parents, Clarence Simpson and Marion Simpson; and his grandchildren, Sandi and Bryon. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in celebration of Richard’s life on Friday, December 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702.After the service, a procession will proceed to the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701, for a committal service at 1:00 PM.
