Sharyn L. Horton

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharyn L Horton age 67 of Newark, De on June 18,2022. She passed away in comfort and peace surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilmington, DE, to the late James J Walls Sr. and Laura Palmer Taylor. Shortly after graduating from Christiana High School she settled into family life as a homemaker and stay at home mom. She raised 2 children until they started school full time then went on to work for 30 plus years at GM on Boxwood Rd officially retiring in 2009. Sharon was a woman of undeniable persistent determination who loved honestly. She was very loving and caring yet bluntly honest and direct, she never sugarcoated or shied away from telling you exactly how she felt. Sharyn loved auctions, antiques and shopping. A woman with a creative sense for fashion and a love for decorating. Sharyn was well known as Mom-Mom by far too many to count. A very generous host with an open-door policy to anyone and everyone and giving to a fault. She loved to entertain and constantly hosted all family parties, birthdays, BBQs and holidays. Throughout her life, Sharyn enjoyed camping, the beach, cruising, traveling, Atlantic City weekends with the girls and her strawberry daiquiris or glass of wine with her lifelong group of friends. Above all, Sharyn’s greatest joys came from raising her family, loving and looking after them especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her devoted husband and soulmate of more than 50 years, James H Horton Jr (Jimmy) who passed in 2020; brother, James J Walls Jr.; and stepmother, Mary L Fox Walls. Her memory will live on as she leaves behind two children: her daughter, Daniell Rae Lewis (husband Keith Aaron Lewis) of Clayton, DE, and her son, James H "Skibo" Horton III; 5 grandchildren: Aaron James Lewis and Emilee Rae Lewis (children of Danie and Keith), Christopher James Kitchen, Andrew James Horton and Mason James Horton (children of Skibo); 3 great-grandchildren: Jaela Marie Kitchen and Stefan James Kitchen (children of Christopher and Shannon) and Andrew James Horton Jr (child of Andrew and Doneqwa); 2 amazing sisters, Sandra Patterson (Wayne) and Sheila Baird- the 3 of them supported each other endlessly throughout their whole lives. and brother, Joseph J Walls, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. The family acknowledges the compassionate care provided by Delaware Hospice, her sisters and other family members who lovingly devoted their time to care for Sharyn in her final days. A special thank you to her amazing sisters, neighbors and close friends who provided a constant stream of help, love and support. They all take solace in knowing that she is once again happy, healthy, reunited with Jimmy and resting in peace. All services and arrangements for Sharyn were held privately.
