Sigrid W. Harris

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sigrid W. Harris, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this life with grace and peace. Sigrid was a free spirit whose caring nature touched all who knew her. She embraced life with open arms and an open heart, and her love for family was at the very core of who she was. Known affectionately as “the Frog Lady,” Sigrid brought joy, laughter, and a whimsical spark everywhere she went. To many, she wasn’t just a friend—she was “Nana,” treating everyone like they were her own. Sigrid was born in Worms, Germany, the youngest of three daughters to Andreas Hertel and Hedwig Victoria Krischer Hertel. She was preceded in death by her beloved older sisters, Helga and Rosemarie, whose memories she always carried with her. Sigrid valued friendship deeply and held lifelong bonds with her dear friends Charlotte and Traudel. One of her greatest joys was attending Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia, where she celebrated her heritage with laughter, music, and good company. Sigrid’s legacy is one of unconditional love, kindness, and a spirit that danced through life. She reminded us to laugh often, love deeply, and to always make room for one more at the table. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. She was the devoted wife of the late Brian Harris, and together they built a life full of love and family. Sigrid was the cherished mother of Pamala (Michael) Howell-Paoli and Achim (Petra) Hertel, and the proud grandmother of Ryan, Saskia, Mervin, and Stephanie, who held a special place in her heart. Her joy continued through her great-grandchildren: Blake, Mayla, Anthony, Christian, and Cayden, each of whom lit up her life.
