Thomas Bruce Wells

Thomas Bruce Wells went home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2026 at Christiana Hospital-Elkton, MD. He was born in Wilmington, DE on November 7, 1963 to the late Dillard Sr. and late Elva Wells. Tommy or T-Bone, as he was affectionately known as, received his education at Dunleith Community School, Eisenberg Elementary School, Gunning Bedford Middle School, and William Penn High School. He worked various jobs throughout his life, specifically working at Hatfield’s for 10 years and 15 years for Kirk’s Plumbing and Heating. Tommy met the love of his life, Charity Kanyara Wells, while she was working as a home health aide. He thought she was so beautiful and they decided to wed. Charity had two children that he fully loved and embraced as his own; Beatrice Njoki and Timothy Kamau. They went on family vacations together and many family outings. It was true love for Tommy & Charity. After marrying in June 2004, they left Delaware and relocated to Elkton, MD. Tommy loved to go fishing and crabbing with his Uncle George and cousin Steve. He loved listening to his old music, especially James Brown. At just about 8 or 9 years old, his sister Dianne took him to a concert at the University of Delaware and he got to dance with James Brown on stage. He loved riding and fixing bicycles. That was his favorite pastime. Tommy became real good friends with his neighbors in Elkton. Thomas leaves to cherish his loving memories his children, Beatrice Njoki and Timothy Kamau, his loving sister, Bonita Wells Lewis, his loving brother, Dillard Wells Jr. (Raythell), his baby sister, Catherine Jackson (Daryl), his uncle, George Evans, Aunt Mary Monroe, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, family, and friends. Tommy is predeceased by his loving wife, Charity Kanyara Wells; his loving father, Dillard Sr.; his loving mother, Elva; his brother, Paul; and his sisters, Rose, Dianne, and Jaqueline. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on April 30, 2026, from 9 – 11 am at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 420 S. DuPont Hwy, Smyrna, DE 19977.
