Mr. Walter Lynch

Walter Lynch was born to the late Josie Lynch and Walter Easley on September 20, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. Walter was the youngest of three children. His two sisters are Brenda Omusi and Angel Williams (deceased). During Walter's formative years, he attended E.M. Stanton and McDaniel Elementary schools. Walter graduated from South Philadelphia High School in 1966. During his youth, Walter formed a lifelong friendship with Wilford Shamlin. At times Walter would accompany Wilford and his family to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. There Walter started to develop a love for Bible study and for God. Years later, he progressed in his studies and at 19 years of age, he symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God in 1967. Another person he met in his youth was Priscilla Boone. They lived next door to each other on Montrose Street in South Philadelphia. However, Priscilla's mom would not allow her to date until she was 16 years old. So what happens on Priscilla's 16th birthday? Walter calls her and asks for his first date. He took Priscilla to a Nancy Wilson concert and that is where their love began to blossom and led to their marriage on March 14, 1970. That union was blessed with two daughters, Traci and Kelly. Walter shared his love of Jehovah and his principles consistently with his daughters, which has strongly contributed to who they are today. Walter was a fierce defender of his faith and family. Walter enjoyed many privileges of service in the congregation, including serving as an Overseer for over 50 years. He's traveled to South Korea, Japan, and Canada for International Conventions. He also served for a number of years helping the congregation friends in the Hospital Visitation Group in its early beginnings. He instilled in us how important it is to extend hospitality. Not only was our home open for the Congregation Book Study for decades, but on numerous occasions we hosted Circuit Overseers and Bethel speakers. Second to Walter's love for Jehovah God, was his love for music. His varied musical taste spanned from Beethoven, to Miles Davis, to Sting. Walter has also enjoyed the occasional vacation. Some of his favorite places include Aruba, Bermuda, St. Thomas, and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Walter is survived by his wife Priscilla, Daughters: Traci (Jason), Kelly; Grandchildren: Christopher, Chynna, Chase, Cohen; Sister: Brenda; Nephews/Nieces: Larry, Angel, David (Sasha), Chancey (Stephanie); Valerie, Vanessa, Charles, Velvet (Royce), Velmonica (Raymond), Valencia (Stephen); Vilma (Rodney) and a host of many spiritual friends and family. Relatives and friends are invited to the service on Sunday, June 16, 2024 at 4PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2101 Red Lion Road in Bear. Interment will be private.
