William "Bill" S. Scott Sr.

William S. Scott Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home on June 14, 2024, in Wilmington, DE, at the age of 68. He was born on August 9, 1955, in Wilmington, DE, to the late Raymond Scott Sr. and Winifred Boss. William “Bill” was a devoted family man who was cherished by all. He is survived by his wife, Mary “Ginny” Scott; daughter, Denise Scott; son, William “Billy” Scott Jr., son-in-law, Juan “John” P. Soto; grandchildren: Juan C. Soto (Jahda), Miguel A. Soto, Isabella “Bella” Black, Daniel “DJ” Dejesus-Scott, Eliana “Gabby” Black, Taeanna “Tae Tae” Soto, Elijah “Boogie” Black; great-grandchildren: Aliana “Ali” Soto, Mia “Mimi” Gabrielle Soto, and Yazmine “Yazzy” Milani Soto-Scott; siblings: Ernest “Ernie” Scott (Linda), Johnny Scott, Dorothy “Dottie” Moore, and Patricia “Patti” Bye. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Raymond “Ray” Scott Jr., Mary Hall, and Marcy Scott, William “Bill” served from 1972 – 1979 in the Army National Guard as a reservist. He visited Germany in his adventures with the National Guard and greatly enjoyed his time in the military. Bill learned about cars from a gas station owner named Joe, who taught him everything he knew, and Bill went on to be an amazing mechanic with the knowledge he was taught. Bill went on and worked for many different garages well known throughout Wilmington. He would never turn a blind eye on anyone who needed help with repairs to their car even if he had to assist you on the side of the road to make sure your ride was smooth getting you to your destination. Bill had a generous heart and would always do what he could even if that meant not taking a dime for the work he did. He was also a maintenance man for many years at the Salvation Army and had an amazing time working there. Bill used to fight getting a haircut so every once in a while, his coworkers would take up a collection and make him get a haircut once the time came. He really enjoyed his time at the SAL. Finally, dad was an avid and ambitious fisherman. He loved to fish. This was what he enjoyed the most. He would even participate in the salmon run in Oswego, New York in years past and would do so with his brother, Johnny. Dad was a little sad he was unable to fish for the last two years, but I know he is fishing his heart out now. We love you so much Dad, hope you Rest in Peace and keep on fishing until we meet again. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation and service on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 2 – 3 PM at Strano and Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635, Churchmans Road in Newark, where a memorial service will be held at 3 PM. Interment will be private.
