Alatta Mae Flueallen, age 60, of New Castle, DE sadly lost her battle with cancer on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Born Alatta Mae Slater on May 31, 1961 in Dover, DE, she spent her early years in nearby Cheswold with her father, stepmother, and 12 siblings. Alatta was the fifth eldest. One of her proudest moments was to be the first in her family to graduate from high school. Alatta’s favorite things in life were the simple pleasures. She enjoyed being with friends and family, laughing, playing cards, eating good food, having a drink, and listening to her favorite music while dancing and singing along. She was devoted to her family, and she loved nothing more than being a mother and grandmother to her “beautiful grandchildren” Alatta is survived by her son, Richard; her daughter Sabrina; and her grandchildren: Bean, Shy, and Lex. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Philly” Flueallen whom she loved very much. They spent 21 “adventurous” years together on earth. Now they are together again, dancing and singing for eternity. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, January 20 from 2-3 PM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702.
