Catherine B. Kane

June 19, 1935 - March 31, 2022

Catherine B. Kane, age 86, of Wilmington, DE went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2022. She was born in Wilmington, DE to the late Agnes and Harry Francks. She graduated in 1953 from St. Peter’s in New Castle, DE. Catherine met and married the love of her life, Joseph F. Kane, and they raised a beautiful family together. Catherine loved the Lord and trusted God in all situations, she never questioned His plan in her life. She was steadfast and at peace in every situation she faced. Throughout the years, Catherine continually opened her heart and more importantly her unconditional love to everyone she touched. Catherine loved and cherished her family. She worked hard both inside and outside the home; her time at Mr. Pizza included one night where she prepared over 80 pizzas in one shift. She went on to become a manager at W. L. Gore and Associates, but her true love and calling was always caring for her children. Catherine enjoyed reading, watching television, and making delicious food to share with those she loved. Her sugar-free cookies, candies, oatmeal, and Christmas fudge were just a few of the favorite treats she loved to share. A special bond was shared with her niece Angela Dorsi, with whom Catherine and Joseph lived. This evidence of the love and tender care between them was reflective of the love and compassion Catherine gave to others all her life. Her kindness, examples of service, and legacy of loving and trusting the Lord, will long be remembered by the ones who were touched by Catherine. Those blessed by sitting at the feet of this beautiful servant will mourn her passing but look forward to their Heavenly reunion someday. Catherine is survived by her husband of 68 years, Joseph F. Kane; her daughter-in-law, Marie Kane; her brothers, Albert and Paul Francks; her sister, Joan Maroney; her special grandson, Alex Parks; special granddaughter, Rachel Vanleer; her niece, Angela Dorsi; and a host of other nieces and nephews will mourn the loss of their beloved Catherine. She was preceded in death by her parents, her children, four sons: Joseph, Harry, Dennis, and Chris; two daughters, Kimberly, and Kathy; her brothers, Harry (Bubby) and Thomas Francks; her sisters: Mary White, Agnes Hill, and Theresa Smith; and her granddaughter, Kathy Ciccantelli. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 7 from 10-11 AM at the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd, Newark, DE 19702.
