Charles F. Bishop

November 13, 1947 - May 3, 2022

Charles F. Bishop, age 74, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022. Charles retired after 37 years of dedicated service at DuPont and 11 years as a bus driver for the Colonial School District, where he was known as “Mr. Charles”. He volunteered at the Newport and Elsmere Fire Company. Charles could put a smile on anyone’s face. He was generous with his time and would help whoever needed it. Charles enjoyed the outdoors where he would hunt, fish, and camp. He enjoyed working on cars, racing stock cars and was an avid fan of NASCAR. Most of all, he was a loving husband, dad and pop-pop who enjoyed making memories with his family. He will be dearly missed. Charles is survived by his cherished wife of 44 years, Linda Welsh Bishop; sons, Michael Bishop and Andrew Bishop (Kim); grandchildren: Amelia, Alice, Annabelle, Abel, and Addison; sister, Christine Bishop Allen; and nephew and nieces; Brian Allen, Kimberlee Polk (Rick), and Reece Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Olga Doleba Bishop; and brother-in-law, Gary Allen. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 5:30-7 PM at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of Charles’s life at 7 PM.
