Chester “Chet” Wehry, age 80, of Newark, DE passed away at home on September 24, 2020. Chet was born on July 22, 1940, in Pittman, PA to the late Joseph F. and Cicely Wetzel Wehry, the youngest of their 9 children. Much of his career was spent at DuPont’s Chestnut Run site where he worked in various positions and retired as a Textile Supervisor in 1998. Chet loved spending time at his campsite in Cape May, NJ. Each year he looked forward to spring so he could open the place up, and for many years he spent most of the April to October season enjoying his time there. He liked making wooden crafts such as birdhouses, signs, and lamps which he enjoyed selling at flea markets near and around Cape May. Chet is survived by his wife of almost 24 years, Patricia Wehry; sons, Joseph of Bear, DE and Richard (Melissa) of Newark, DE; stepson, Allen Ray (Allison) of Wilmington, DE; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Chet was preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; and his daughter, Brenda Farmer. A celebration of Chet’s life will be held privately.
